fresh build of Slicer3

Casey Goodlett
Hi all,

I just made  a new build of Slicer3 from scratch using getbuildtest,
but I'm not getting a Slicer3 executable in the root of the binary
directory.  Is this expected or a bug in the build process?

Thanks

Re: fresh build of Slicer3

Kathryn Hayes
Hi Casey,

That's a bug that we're currently seeing on Linux 64.  Is that where
you're seeing it too?

Thanks,

Katie

I have the same issue trying to build from fresh checkout on Linux 64.
(not in nightly build)

Ahh Interesting. I was thinking this was related to an install rule but since you're not creating a package it must be something else. I am in the process of running a linux getbuildtest right now.

I just did a build on a Debian 64bit machine and I do have a Slicer3 executable in Slicer3-build/bin. Most of the tests failed though with this output. I am not certian why it is not looking in the bin dir but I will see if I can track it down.

Could not find executable /home/kitware/Slicer/Slicer3-build/Slicer3

Re: fresh build of Slicer3

Hi Dave -

The main Slicer3 launcher should exist in Slicer3-build (do not use the
one in Slicer3-build/bin - it is not maintained and does not have the
options required to run the tests).

It's possible that some recent checkin to the cmake configuration now
fails to configure the executable into the Slicer3-build directory where
it had previously been going.  Or possibly this is more fallout from the
cmake 2.8 upgrade.

We will probably revisit the details of the launcher as part of the Qt
port, but for now slicer is following the architecture agreed to at the
2007 Project Week:

http://www.slicer.org/slicerWiki/index.php/Slicer3:Launcher

Dave - if you are tracking this down it's probably these lines in

http://viewvc.slicer.org/viewcvs.cgi/trunk/Utilities/Launcher/CMakeLists.txt?rev=11232&view=markup

set(launcher_source
   "${CMAKE_CURRENT_SOURCE_DIR}/Slicer3Launchers/${launcher_name}")
set(launcher_binary
   "${Slicer3_BINARY_DIR}/Slicer3${CMAKE_EXECUTABLE_SUFFIX}")

if(EXISTS "${launcher_source}")
   configure_file("${launcher_source}" "${launcher_binary}" COPYONLY)
   install(PROGRAMS "${launcher_binary}" DESTINATION ".")
endif(EXISTS "${launcher_source}")
